Quota
Each player gets a personal points target (typically 36 minus their handicap). Earn Stableford points each hole; whoever beats their quota by the most wins. Perfectly fair across mixed handicaps.

How it works
The mechanics, hole by hole.
- 1Each player gets a personal quota = quota base (typically 36) − handicap. A 12-handicap targets 24 points.
- 2Earn Stableford points per hole (birdie 4, par 2, bogey 1, etc.).
- 3Beat your quota by the most. A 12-handicap who scores 27 points beats a scratch player who scores 38 (+3 vs +2).
- 4Quota base is configurable per event — 36 for an 18-hole round is standard.
When to play it
Best fit.
The most equitable individual format for a wildly mixed-handicap group. Perfect for corporate days, casual member-guests, charity scrambles where a player wants an individual side game alongside the team format. Nobody's out of it because of handicap.
Worked example
3 holes, with the math shown.
| Player | Handicap | Quota (36 − HCP) | Points | +/− vs quota |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mike | 8 | 28 | 30 | +2 |
| Tom | 0 | 36 | 37 | +1 |
| Austin | 22 | 14 | 19 | +5 |
Austin (22 HCP) only needed 14 points and got 19 — a +5 day. Tom (scratch) had to hit 36 just to break even and only beat his quota by 1. Austin wins.
